Age: late 40s.
I specialized in computer science when I was young, but had no strong or lasting interest in AI or cognitive science till I started reading Eliezer in 2001. Without the bit about strongly recursive self-improvement, I did not see the point of AI research.
I have read most of Eliezer's posts to SL4 before 2004 and most of his web pages and posts to Overcoming Bias.
At the present time, I am willing to meet face-to-face with people with a strong interest in ethics and the Way of Bayes or ethics and self-improving AI because face-to-face conversation is an effective way for me to sharpen my thinking about these things.
I have a blog about programming and my efforts to partner with one or two other programmers to start a company.
